Parable Path Discussion Project - Online In-Person

In this three-session Discussion Project (multi-session facilitated text-based discussion group) participants will focus on The Water Knife, Parable of the Sower, and Salvage the Bones. This program is part of Parable Path Maine, a framework for community organizing developed by musician Toshi Reagon, that brings people together to engage with the belief systems and interrelated social issues that impact healthy living in Maine and the world.

The schdeule (all meetings will be on Zoom):

    • Tuesday, March 21st 6:00 – 7:30 – Discussion of The Water Knife by Paolo Bacigalupi
    • Tuesday, April 25th 5:30 – 7:30 ( this longer discussion will include the Discussion Project groups from the Lewiston and Bangor Public Libraries) – Discussion of Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
    • Tuesday, May 30th 6:00 – 7:30 – Discussion of Salvage the Bones by Jesmyn Ward

Atiim Boykin, MA. MFT. is the Maine Humanities Council discussion facilitator. Atiim is an African American social worker, mental health clinician, musician, poet, community activist, and organizer from Oakland, CA, who lives in Portland, Maine with his wife and daughter.

Each participant will receive copies of each of the three books, which you can keep. You can pick up your books at the Help Desk on the 2nd floor of Curtis Library. If you are unable to get to Curtis to pick up your books, please let me know and we will get them to you some other way. 

This Discussion Project is limited to 15 participants, who can commit to all three discussions. To register, email Wynter Giddings or call 207.607.4139
