Eclipse Program with Northstar Planetarium In-Person

Join John Meader, director/owner of Northern Stars Planetarium, as he shares the excitement of the upcoming April 8, 2024 total eclipse of the sun that will pass through Maine.  John will give you a basic understanding of what an eclipse is, the different types of eclipses, the historical background and earlier Maine eclipses of note. John will share with you his personal experiences viewing eclipses, from the 1963 eclipse he viewed with his dad, through several partial eclipses, the annular eclipse of 1994, the Great American Eclipse of 2017, and now the upcoming April event.  He will explain how to safely view the eclipse, and the logistics to consider about finding the right spot from which to view the eclipse.  Everyone should try to witness this amazing event, it's like nothing you've ever experienced before!  John will help you have the best experience you can.
