Scam Awareness and Prevention Training In-Person

In today's digital age, scams and fraudulent activities are becoming increasingly sophisticated, impacting individuals and communities alike. To combat this growing threat, we are pleased to announce a comprehensive Scam Awareness and Prevention Training program taught by Sgt. Tom Stanton of the Brunswick Police Department. This training aims to educate participants on the various types of scams, warning signs to watch for, and effective prevention strategies. Our goal for this program are to:

  • Educate participants on the different types of scams, including phone scams, online fraud, identity theft, and phishing schemes.
  • Provide practical tools and resources to identify and report scams, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance.
  • Enhance collaboration between community members and law enforcement to foster a safer environment.
  • Empower individuals with knowledge to protect themselves and their loved ones from potential scams.

Sgt. Tom Stanton and has been in law enforcement for over 18 years.  He has held various positions at the department and is currently the community policing Sgt. 

During his talk he will discuss various scams including those that are targeting the older adult population.  He will be happy to answer questions or direct those to the appropriate resources.
