Local Author Spotlight In-Person

Join us for a special evening celebrating our community’s literary talent! The Curtis Memorial Library is proud to host three local authors. Come hear the stories behind the stories, ask questions, and connect with fellow book lovers. This event is part of our ongoing effort to connect readers with the voices that inspire and reflect our community.

This month, we will be joined by the following local authors:

Fred Horch and Peggy Siegel: Your Earth Share: Seven Pathways to Sustainable Living Our practical guide shows you exactly how to live well within Earth's means and create positive change without breaking your budget. Imagine having a good understanding of how much of Earth's resources you can sustainably use—your personal "Earth share"—and a clear roadmap to thrive within those boundaries.

Barbara Kent Lawrence: Both Sides of the Pond: My Family's War - 1933-1946. In 1939, British actress Barbara Greene met Joe Kennedy, Jr., which would lead to her emigrating to America and learning to fly. Her brother, Kent, endured the bitter retreat from Dunkirk and service in WWII. https://barbaralawrence.com

Jack Montgomery: From Holocaust to Maine: Testimonies of the Survivors. Jack Montgomery began making photographic portraits of Maine's Holocaust Survivors in 1995.  At the outset of the pandemic, he set out to collect their first person accounts as they had told them in interviews, books they had written and speeches they had given, as well as in their letters and poems.

Books will be available for sale and signing.
