Racial Equity Book Group

Racial Equity Book Group In-Person

Curtis Memorial Library is proud to be hosting a Maine Humanities Council Discussion Project this spring in the form of a Racial Equity Book Group.

Do you want to learn more about racial equity and justice? Do you find that a majority of the books you and are exposed to are dominated by white voices and lack diversity? If you answered yes to either or both of those questions, the Racial Equity Book Group is the perfect place for you!

In the Racial Equity Book Group, we have a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community to have fruitful conversations about the books selected. This is the time where we can collectively reflect about what we read, learned, ask any questions, and/or work through any areas of confusion.

Discussions will be virtual via Zoom and facilitated by Danny Chin (he/him). Danny is a multiracial queer Asian American. His work in education focuses on identity, equity, and social justice.

We request that participants attend the complete series as discussion topics build from session to session. All four BOOKS PROVIDED in a Racial Equity Book Group Kit.

Register below. Within a couple days of registration, you will be given instructions on how to check out the Racial Equity Book Group Kit.Participants must have a Curtis library card to check out a the kit.
