Growing Literacy ON ZOOM: Planting and Growing by the Lunar Calendar: the Biodynamic Approach to Growing Our Food Online

Please join us for our annual winter garden workshop series, Growing Literacy. This year we are proud to host 6 talks through collaboration with Brunswick-Topsham Land Trust, Growing to Give and Curtis Memorial Library. Two of these talks will be on local farms, three on Zoom and one in-person at Curtis Memorial Library. Bring your curiosity, questions and join us!

Join Barbara Shinn as she unfolds the relationship between our gardens, the moon, and tides. Rooted in ancient practices, biodynamic farming returns our food production to a time when air, water, earth, and fire elements were recognized as essential influences on plant growth and nutrition. Barbara will explain the lunar planting calendar, growing our food for optimal nutrition and life force, biodynamic philosophy, practices and the compost preparations. This event will be held online via Zoom.

Barbara has farmed for 19 years practicing organic, biodynamic, and regenerative farming. She now resides in Freeport, Maine on 14 acres along Collinsbrook stewarding her land with biodynamic practices. She co-organizes the Maine chapter of the national Biodynamic Association.
