Local Author Spotlight
Join us for a special evening celebrating our community’s literary talent! The Curtis Memorial Library is proud to host three local authors. Come hear the stories behind the stories, ask questions, and connect with fellow book lovers. This event is part of our ongoing effort to connect readers with the voices that inspire and reflect our community.
This month, we will be joined by the following local authors:
Kate Hyers, The Courtesan's Eye. This book tells a story of a courtesan-spy and a cursed priest become embroiled in a grisly game of cat-and-mouse involving gods, corruption, and forbidden love.
Tim Queeney, Rope - How a Bundle of Twisted Fibers Became the Backbone of Civilization. Tim Queeney is a sailor who knows more about rope and its importance to humankind than most. Time traveling, he describes the building of the pyramids, the Roman Coliseum, Hagia Sofia, Notre Dame, the Sultan Hasan Mosque, the Brooklyn Bridge and countless other constructions that would not have been possible without rope.
Nancy Collins, The Perfectly Imperfect Potter :Following Improbable Paths. This memoir in essays tells the story of a journey through a life lived with an intrepid spirit, from living solo year-round on a book docked in the Chesapeake Bay. During her adventures, Nancy discovers the Japanese principle of wabi-sabi and finds herself embracing the imperfections in life.
