On Zoom - Home-based (backyard) Aerobic Composting with Mark King
Sunday, January 29th, 3-4:30pm
There are so many different ways to transform your household’s organic waste streams that choosing one can be overwhelming. How do you ensure you’re supporting healthy bacteria and fungi in your soil? Join Environmental Specialist and Director of Maine Compost School, Mark King, to learn about what he views to be the most effective and efficient composting methods for the home gardener. Bring your questions and leave equipped to deal with your waste and turn it into what you want. This event will be held online via Zoom.
Mark is originally from Winthrop, Maine and has been with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection since 1991. He holds a degree in biology from the University of Maine and a Masters in zoology from Southern Illinois University. Currently, Mark works as an Environmental Specialist in the Department’s Sustainability Division, where he serves as the Department’s compost contact. Additionally, he serves as the Department’s representative on the Maine Compost Team and helped develop the internationally renowned Maine Compost School where he serves as a faculty member and Director.
